The ‘Cosmographia’ Sebastian Münster published in Latin in 1550 became one of the most popular works of the 16th century. This woodcut map comes from the French edition of 1568 and shows Africa in a simplistic view, with legendary kingdoms and a mythical human being. The hydrographical system is still based on Ptolemy.
