The A.I.A. (International African Association) had already sailed a great deal by 1900. It was built in Le Havre. The A.I.A. had served the crew of H.M. Stanley when it was asked to construct the stations between Vivi and Stanley Falls (Kisangani), between 1879 and 1884.
