This sketch was done by Joseph Inver, the son of an officer in the Turkish army, who was part of the Léon Hanolet expedition to Ubangi-Bomu (1892-1893). This sketch, the drawings and paintings of Edouard Manduau, as well as the writings of agents of the AIC and Congo Free State allude to the violence of King Leopold II's African adventure.
