Two Congolese and two European students in the library of the Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Sociales de l'Etat in Leopoldstad. The institute offered three years of basic training to prepare pupils for higher technical education to obtain the degree of social worker. The Congolese students were the first generation with a higher education.

La bibliothèque de l'Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Sociales de l'Etat à Léopoldville. Cette bibliothèque contient près de 4000 volumes traitant notamment de psychologie, de sociologie et d'assistance sociale. Constituée pour les besoins de l'école, elle peut néanmoins être consultée par des spécialistes qui désirent se documenter. Le cycle d'étude comprend 3 années; il vise à donner aux élèves une formation générale de base que leur permettra d'accéder avec fruit à l'enseignement technique supérieur. L'institut délivre un diplôme légal d'auxiliaire social.
