Legend
Another glance, and it seems to be overwhelming him, when, Ach Gott! he springs overboard. Coloured lanternslide from an engraving.
This lanternslide is part of a set of 63, belonging to Henry M. Stanley (1841-1904). These slides were used to illustrate the many lectures he delivered the world over. Most of them illustrate the traveller journeys from the search for Livingstone in 1871-72 to the rescue of Emin Pasha in 1887-90, and reproduce both engravings and photographs. Denzil M. Stanley, H. M. Stanley's son, donated them to the Museum, in 1954.
