This aquarelle by Liévin Van de Velde depicts the first Belgian trading post in Boma which was set up by the trader Adolphe Gillis. Van de Velde also painted ceramics with views of the region of Vivi. Other aquarelles by Van de Velde are kept in the Stroobant archives in the RMCA.
