Legend
This type of dwelling in Boma, described as type CM 6 in official records, was intended to accommodate colonial officials. It was developed by architects of the Public Works Department in the 1910s and made use of metal construction elements. With regard to plan development, it still followed the late 19th century ‘tropical bungalow’ with the characteristic veranda or, in colonial jargon, the barza. This type of houses can still be found in various cities in Congo.
