Legend
The colonial government realised a new medical facility in Leopoldville for the white community between 1928 and 1934, the Reine-Elisabeth hospital. The complex that was conceived as a series of individual pavilions according to Belgian models at the time, provided comfort that was similar to that of institutions in the mother country. Those who stayed at the salon des malades could temporarily forget that they were in Congo.
