The Berlin Conference (November 1884 – February 1885) was to see many of the future European colonial powers’ territorial ambitions on Africa come to fruition. One year later the political situation in Central Africa is somewhat clearer. This map was published as a Supplement to the ‘Mouvement Géographique, Journal populaire des Sciences géographiques’ which was founded in 1884.
